Frolicking in Uzbekistan

Frolicking in Uzbekistan

Finally, after three long years of planning around a pandemic and a constantly changing world, we're almost on our way to the Silk Road 'Stans of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan! I leave Albuquerque on September 19, pick up a couple of traveling friends in Los Angeles and meet the rest of our 3 'Stans Craft & Textile Tour participants in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on September 25.

So it was delightful to open my inbox yesterday and see a "Google Alert" featuring an article by Pakistani "influencer" Sana Tauseef entitled "Frolicking in Uzbekistan: A peek into the wonderous world in Uzbekistan through the eyes of a Pakistani traveleller."

As I read the author's account, I realized that she traveled exactly the same path that we will follow for the first week of our upcoming journey, including the transit through Istanbul on Turkish Airlines! It was such a wonderful preview of our first three stops in Tashkent, Bukhara and Samarkand (sometimes spelled "Samarqand"). I thought you would enjoy it too!

I'm deep into preparing my final checklists and pre-packing to make sure it all fits. My trusty iPhone is going with me to record our modern Silk Road adventure through photos and videos. I've even bought a special travel-size gimbal to make it easier to capture video along the way.

I'll be sharing regularly on our HoonArts Facebook page and Instagram page, so be sure to follow us so you don't miss anything. You can find our pages by clicking our social icons at the bottom.

From Farm to Table to Art in Tajikistan

One memory of Tajikistan that always stays with me is the delicious fruits and nuts, fresh from the orchards that are found in every valley in the country. My own photos can’t do justice to these fruits and nuts, so I thought I would . . .
