Where the Heck is Central Asia?

by Rikki Quintana May 03, 2020

Many world travelers are now wondering when, if ever, they will be able to indulge their wanderlust again, in the face of the global Covid-19 pandemic. In this short video, we hope to make up for that in a small way by taking you on a whirlwind tour (by map) around Central Asia and the countries of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. These are the modern countries (and former Soviet Republics) where HoonArts' artisans live and work. We also answer the Number 1 question we always get at live events: "Just exactly where the heck is Central Asia?"

We originally planned to do a voiceover, but quickly discovered that there's so much to say about each of the countries (even when just discussing geography and a tiny bit of history) that it would make the video way too long. That commentary will simply have to wait for another day-perhaps a live (virtual) event. Instead, we've simply included some authentic Tajik and Uzbek folk music as background for your travels. Enjoy your tour!
