Are you looking for something unique in the world of textile arts that gets you up close and personal with artists from a unique culture? Would you like to create something special with your own hands?
Then our upcoming Live In-Person Suzani Embroidery Master Classes are perfect for you.
In these suzani embroidery master classes, participants will learn about the history and meaning of the traditional Central Asian world of suzani embroidery from an award-winning master embroidery artist and teacher, Munira Akilova. As participants immerse themselves in the suzani world, they will each work on recreating for themselves one of the traditional suzani patterns from the region.
We will supply a pdf version of the suzani pattern and a related E-Book about Suzani Embroidery by email after you register. Participants will need to transfer the pattern to the base fabric of their choice. Participants will also need to supply their own embroidery thread, needles, and hoops. The pdf pattern will have color suggestions for traditional color palettes, but you may of course create your own color palette.
We're so delighted that Munira Akilova, designer and manager at Armughon Handicrafts and her own brand Munir, will be able to share her unique knowledge and experience with textile artists in New Mexico.
We're keeping the experience intimate by limiting it to 15 participants for each class. These classes are recommended for embroidery enthusiasts with at least an INTERMEDIATE LEVEL of skills.
Join us for an in-person, live experience and embroidery master classes like no other. Be prepared to laugh and learn as you enter the unique world of suzani embroidery.
